To create these slab tiles, I researched African culture and found their artwork uses many shapes, people, and animals. I chose the shapes for each slab tile as well as the specific design. I decided to use the elephant as well as the people. When examining my artwork, I see many craftsmanship errors. The edges aren't straight and smooth. Also a few designs didn't transfer onto the clay as well as I had hoped. One main challenge I had was transferring my design. When I stamped my designs into the clay, the lines weren't as exaggerated as I wanted. I used tools to makes the lines more visible. For the elephant design, I used clay on top of the pattern to make it pop out of the clay.
